I know that, without a doubt, there are certain people that God has placed in my life along the way for very important reasons. I met my very first best friend when I was in 5th grade. My family had moved from a small town in Georgia to another (somewhat – at the time) small town in North Carolina. We moved just down the street from a girl and her family who, even though I didn’t realize at the time, would impact my life in a way I will forever be thankful for. We only lived down the street from each other for a year and a half, before her family moved away… but it was enough time to build a friendship that would last a lifetime.
My dear friend and I have lived most of our lives with many states and many miles between us, and we have grown and changed quite a bit from the girls we were back then… two 11-year olds who spent their afternoons after school starting up a dog walking business or riding their bikes together around the neighborhood. We’re both wives and mothers now, with our own beautiful little blessings to care for each day. I’m sure we’ll blink and they’ll be the age we were when we first met.
Although we live on separate sides of the country, God brought some of my friend’s family to Georgia, which means I have even better opportunities to see her now than in many years prior. Even though I wish it could be more often, seeing her even once a year and now, watching our own children play together, is so special to me.
This year, I was able to spend a few moments during our visit photographing my friend and her two kiddos… along with another soon-to-be beautiful blessing on the way! Natalie, thank you for allowing me the time to capture these moments for you and your family. You are & have always been such a blessing to me!
